ok people, now is the time to show what the power of TIG can help us do for each other...

A group at my university was supposed to hold a small, short conference (4 hrs) in about two weeks' time on the crisis in Darfur. Huge problem: all 4 of our speakers have just recently told us they cannot make it.

The easiest thing would be to cancel the whole event, but we have already sent out mass invites, have posters made, and are in the process of (possibly) making t-shirts to sell for charity. Actually, the whole event is for charity, once our costs are covered. And oh yes: DINNER is provided at this conference and we do not want any food to go to waste!!

DOES ANYONE KNOW OF ANY SPEAKERS/PERFORMERS WHO COULD REPLACE OUR CONFERENCE SPEAKERS???? They must be in the Ottawa, ON (Canada) region or able to travel there for very low cost because our (very) tiny budget does not really allow for any travel fee compensation. Examples of speakers could be anyone ranging from a Sudanese citizen who has lived through Darfur or a similar situation, someone who has worked in genocide intervention, etcetera...we are very desperate here, as you all can tell!!
